The Executive Vice Chairman of Green Lock FC, Olufunsho Clifton Peters says the club will continue to invent creative ways to stand out with its approach to talent discovery, development and promotion to the international Market.

While featuring on NaijaMade, a Super Sports Nigerian football focused programme, hosted by ace presenter, Chisom Mbonu, Peters affirmed that Green Lock FC wants to change the narrative about the professionalism of Nigerian clubs in the football Business.

This means building a good structure of expertly qualified individuals in the running of the club in consonance with global best practices. The young executive said it will make the club more attractive in the international market, thus aiding the progress of talented players to the professional space in top leagues across the universe.

“It comes down to who is running the club and how it’s being run. Our main thing is we have to keep the standard up, when I hear in Nigeria they just rubbish us with the structure. What we’ve done is that we are changing the narrative completely. If you’re going to work with us, we need to make sure that you’re up to the standard. We can’t have top scouts coming over and you’re not putting in the required work you are meant to do.” Funsho Peters quipped.

Addressing a question on respect for the talents’ grassroots teams, he guaranteed that FIFA Laws on players’ transfer and compensation processes are strictly adhered to in the operations of Green Lock FC.

He excitedly posited that the fruits of this resolute stance has made Green Lock FC and its events a nectar for the bees of clubs (locally and internationally) that constantly wants to associate or participate.

He reiterated the importance for young aspiring footballers to be educated alongside their professional pursuits. This he said will afford them options of excelling in different fields beyond playing football, revealing the upcoming historic collaboration between his team, Green Lock FC and Lagos State University, modelling the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA system in the USA.
